Two identical cats sit side by side at the top of this sheet with an equals sign between them, ready to color. Under them are two words in large outline capitals: the German KATZE and the English CAT. For an English-speaking family, CAT is the familiar one and Katze is the new word, two letters longer.
Tracing tips for these letters
K is the letter to watch here. The stem comes first, then stroke 2 starts at the top right, runs in to the stem and back out to the bottom. Z is one continuous zigzag, so it can help to say "across, slant, across" while the pencil moves. The C in CAT is also a single stroke, curving around from its numbered dot.
Ways to use it with your child
- Color both cats in exactly the same colors, so the sheet shows a true matching pair.
- Hunt for the letters A and T, which appear in both words.
- Meow together, then say "cat" and "Katze" in turn.
How to print it
Print at 100 percent with no scaling, so the tracing letters come out at the size they were drawn for. Black and white is fine.
