A rounded 8 with two holes sits beside eight apples in rows of three, two and three. Below them, ACHT and EIGHT appear as outlines to trace. Acht has the throaty German "ch" sound, a bit like clearing your throat softly. Try it aloud together. Both words end with the letters H and T.
Tracing tips for these letters
In EIGHT, the G is the letter to watch. It runs around in one stroke, then H and T follow, each with its numbers. In ACHT, A has two sloping strokes from the top and a crossbar as stroke 3. The big digit has no arrows. On another piece of paper, one way your child can write an 8 is to draw an S and curve back up to the start.
Ways to use it with your child
- Look for eight in real life, such as the legs on a toy spider.
- Walk or drive a toy car around a big 8 taped to the floor.
- Underline H and T in both words and count how many letters are left.
How to print it
Print at 100 percent with no scaling, so the tracing letters come out at the size they were drawn for. Black and white is fine.
